What are the best hangover patches in the world?

This year the Council reviews the best hangover patches. I suppose, technically, they should be called anti-hangover patches. We have a great lineup including The Party Patch, Sly Fox Hangover Patch, PatchMD and the Monster Hangover Patch. Our review reveals that there is a wide variance in ingredients and quality. This year our team physically tested five patches and did research/observation on three other patches.

How do hangover patches work?

Hangover patches are becoming very popular among today’s drinking crowd. Sure there are pills and potions, but who wants to swallow something when you’re trying not to throw up. If you’re new to patches, here is the principle on how they work. Hangover patches replenish vital vitamins and minerals lost when you consume alcohol. By replenishing these specific vitamins, one is likely to reduce the severity of a hangover. B1 is a vital nutrient in the breakdown of alcohol in the body and vital to the central nervous system. Because it’s not produced in the body and depleted so rapidly when drinking alcohol, replenishing B1 in your system is critical to feeling your best. The best hangover patches always contain Vitamin B1 (also known as Thiamine). Some patches add additional antinausea support such as Milk Thistle or Artichoke.

Do hangover patches work?

For as many people that believe in the patch, there is an equal amount, who do not believe. All I can say is that you need to try it for yourself with an open mind. The major argument is that large molecules such as vitamins and minerals can’t pass through the skin. This statement is true…except some very smart scientists have added penetrating enhancers that make the skin more permeable to these larger molecules (see our research on nicotine patches). If you want to know if a hangover patch is legit, ask the manufacturer what they use as their enhancer. If they can’t answer, then they are probably just a middle man for some factory in China.

Our 2020 research council is composed of college science students and seasoned drinkers. Their observations are their own opinions and nothing more. I say use this review as a guide of what to try first, and if you do suffer from hangovers from one drink or 20, maybe the hangover patch will become your best friend.
